I
was born in Caracas, Venezuela on January 10, 1979.
I
moved around a lot because of my father's work which wasn't so bad
because I got to meet different kinds of people. I guess that is why I
can say
that my work derive from a wide variety of influences, from the folkloric
celebrations called "El Baile del Mono" from my mother's home
town of
Caicara de Maturin, Venezuela to Thanksgiving in Mount Vernon, Ohio. I've
always thought of making drawings as a hobby and not something that you
can make a career out of but when I realized that one of the reasons I
spent
so much time in front of the TV watching saturday mornings cartoons was
because it was another world. Not one you could touch but one that is
in
somebody's head and you could see it .... it just felt more interesting
making
something that we are not used to seeing. Then, the inevitable
happened...........I graduated high school and like most kids did not
have a
clue of what to study so I could make a decent living but since Venezuela
is
not too kind to the artists studying Graphic Design seemed like a good
idea,
so I did. Although, learning a lot about Visual Comunication helped me
understand how to put content and direction to my work it just didn't
fit with
what I wanted to do. I wanted to be the creator of a character, scene
or
world, I want to be the first guy people come to when they have
an idea of
something and I am the one that is going to create it visually,
that pretty
much sums it up of where I want to be in regards to the industry.
So
after I got my Graphic Design Degree I felt the need to study something
more, something that I could love doing and make a living at it. That
is how I
ended up at Full Sail Real World Education and now I have an Assotiate
of
Science Degree in Computer Animation and I'm hoping to get a job
as a
storyboard or concept artist. And further down the line, after
many years of
experience, I would like to be a lead artist for an animated film.
So
that's pretty much the direction I want to go and god willing I'm working
on making it happen.
